A Clinical Certified Orthotist (CO) (c) has a minimum of eight years of education and practical training. Certified Orthotists work closely with physicians, therapists and their clients to design and fit the orthotic devices that will enhance a patient’s functional life. A Certified Orthotist treats patients of all ages, from infants to the elderly. Our Certified Orthotists are members in good standing with the Canadian Board for Certification of Prosthetists and Orthotists (CBCPO). They also have Departmental Assistant Status with Providence Care.

As University-educated health professionals, Kinesiologists apply exercise and movement science to promote health and wellbeing; prevent, manage and rehabilitate injuries; treat illness and chronic disease; restore function, and optimize human performance in the workplace, clinical settings, sport and fitness. Kinesiologists are the only human movement specialists that use science and research to offer movement as medicine to any person with a health or fitness goal, who want a hands-on, personalized approach. Kinesiologists work with people of all ages, and physical abilities, in many settings, to help them achieve their health and wellness goals. They improve quality of life, often using interventions that include physical activity.

Canadian Certified Pedorthists are orthotic and orthopaedic footwear experts trained in postural analysis, movement patterns, and musculoskeletal examination. More specifically, they focus on the assessment of lower limb anatomy, muscle and joint function, as well as the interaction of the foot and lower limb with the rest of the body.

With specialized education and training in foot orthoses and footwear, Canadian Certified Pedorthists help to alleviate pain, abnormalities, and debilitating conditions of the lower limbs and feet.
